Ask about hotline

  • No prior experience is necessary. However…

    – All Detention Hotline volunteers must have a professional working proficiency in Spanish. Proficiency in additional languages is helpful but not required.

    – All volunteers must first attend a mandatory hour-long virtual Detention Hotline training.

    – While the mandatory hotline training will cover how to use Amica Center’s phone system and database, a basic comfort level with phones and computers is highly encouraged.

    – Volunteers can be remote or in-person. All in-person volunteers will be required to submit a COVID-19 vaccine self-certification form proving they are fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.

  • This position is largely flexible.

    Volunteers monitor our hotline in 2-hour shifts Monday-Friday from 9 am to 5 pm ET, but may sign up for multiple shifts in a row.

  • Both in-person and remote shifts are available.

    You can cover the Detention Hotline remotely or come into the DC office on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

  • Yes.

    All volunteers must first sign up for a mandatory hour-long virtual Detention Hotline training.

  • Before you can sign up for any programs or training, be sure to fully read our volunteer agreement. You’ll be asked to e-sign the agreement on the volunteer signup form in the next step.
