WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Amica Center for Immigrant Rights and the National Organization of Legal Services Workers (NOLSW), UAW Local 2320 proudly announce the signing of their first union contract, marking the organization’s commitment to dignity, respect, and collective voice in the workplace.

“Amica Center United (ACU) began organizing with NOLSW nearly three years ago in order to fight for fair compensation, transparency, sustainable working practices, and a voice in our workplace,” said the ACU Bargaining Team. “We are incredibly proud of the contract that our staff unanimously ratified, which provides competitive salaries and benefits across the board, and will raise the standards in our industry. We are fortunate to have a management who not only voluntarily recognized our staff union, but who has been willing to work with us on bettering Amica Center as a whole.”

“Our staff are the backbone of Amica Center. Every day, they stand alongside immigrants navigating some of the most challenging experiences of their lives,” said Michael Lukens, Executive Director at Amica Center. “This agreement reflects our public commitment to ensuring those same staff members have a workplace that supports them, values their contributions, and provides the stability needed to sustain their work over the long-term. We are proud of this milestone and excited for what it means for the future of our organization.”

The contract is a shared commitment between the union and Amica Center’s leadership to ensure a workplace where staff can thrive while continuing to provide high-quality legal services and advocacy for immigrants facing detention and deportation.
